A Dallas medical clinic specializing in laser tattoo removal, in celebration of an election season filled with calls for “change” and “reform”, is offering free treatments to tattooed voters on November 4, 2008.

New Look Laser Tattoo Removal is opening their clinic on Election Day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for a first free treatment to remove an unwanted tattoo up to 4” by 4”. A North Texas resident that brings in an “I Voted” sticker, their voter registration card, or is willing to promise that they fully punched their “chad” will be given a free consultation to discuss laser tattoo removal and their first treatment at no charge.

“You can’t turn on the television, radio, or open a newspaper without hearing a candidate talking about change” says New Look’s President, Ryan N. Lambert. “We figured that voters with unwanted tattoos are probably regretting their old policy of bad ink and are looking for some fresh skin this November. Voters may be discouraged if their candidate doesn’t win this election, but they can rest assured that we’ll start removing their ink without wrecking the budget.”

Great: Tattoo artist gives 726 tattoos in a day in Guinness World Record challenge

726 tattoos one day

One star after another, Derek Kastning went from a back, to an arm, and even to a head.

“That’s my best feature, I guess, and I can show it off,” Bo Silvey, who got a tattoo on his head, said.

Kastning, who works at Rat-a-Tac-Tat Tattoos, started his Guinness World Record attempt at 1 p.m. Oct. 25, and people waited in line for hours hoping to be apart of history.

“It’s for a good cause,” one participant said.

“I think it’s pretty cool. You know someone from Tyler is setting a world record,” said participant Lee Glover, who received a tattoo on his arm.

Now there are a few guidelines: Guinness says the tattoos have to be a specific size, 3.25″ by 3.25″. They also need to be two colors, in this case black and blue. And then, of course, people have to be monitoring every move.

One of the challenges Kastning faced during his world record attempt was running out of people, but he overcame that challenge.

At midnight Oct. 26, the record had already been broken.

“Our original goal was like 450, or 500,” Kastning said. “At midnight we realized we could cream that, so we started shooting for like a thousand to 800.”

When the clock struck 1 p.m. Oct. 26, the artist finished his 726th tattoo.

Guinness now has a new world record holder for tattooing.

World record for most tattoos in a 24-hour period – 416

KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) – A Key West tattoo artist fell short Friday of breaking a world record for most tattoos in a 24-hour period.

John Paul Bertrand finished 371 tattoos but needed 416 to break the record held by Oliver Peck of Dallas. Peck completed 415 tattoos.

“I can’t feel my fingertips,” said Bertrand after completing his final tattoo.

Bertrand offered four designs including a conch shell, a Florida Keys’ symbol. All were drawn free and mostly on visitors in Key West for Fantasy Fest, the island city’s annual festival.

Bertrand said he would challenge the record again, but only with one design.

“It’s hard to focus in 24 hours on four different things and make it flow fast,” he said.

Want to be a spy? Tattoo your face first

IT WAS a job that called for stealth and the willingness to go on secret missions, yet the disguise required was anything but.

Two Indonesian job-seekers were duped into getting their whole face tattooed after they were told it was a requirement to become intelligence officers.

Nanang, 30, and Bambang, 40, underwent the process, which saw them being inked with dragon-print tattoos over their faces.

Now, both men think the man who claimed to be a government official in charge of the recruitment was actually a ‘mystic’.

The victims also believe he put them into a trance in order to convince them to have the tattoos.

Said Bambang: ‘I was half conscious when the shop owner tattooed my face, and didn’t think it was a con job.

‘I just realised it was a con job on Friday night. I was shocked and I cried.’

The person who feels most guilty is their village chief, Mr Sawiyono.

He was helping the men find jobs in Jakarta and claimed he received a text message from a government official offering them work as intelligence officers.

The man told the chief that the two would have to be inked first with a dragon tattoo.

But he realised he had been tricked after he checked with the sub-district chief of Bojonegoro in East Java who told him there was no such requirement.

Mr Sawiyono has promised to help the victims have their tattoos removed.

He also thinks the official that recommended the jobs could be a mystic, saying: ‘I don’t know why I believe that person, I feel half conscious when I follow the man’s instructions.’

‘I am fully responsible for the mistake.’

Indonesian police said it was the third such hoax to have been reported in recent months.

Meantime, the two are left with a permanent ink – for which they are seeking treatment in a hospital – but with no permanent jobs.
